For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord...

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

Every Christmas leaves me with a sense of awe.  To think we are witnesses to such a mystical, mysterious event that played out over 2,000 years ago in a little town called Bethlehem.  Imagine. . . a baby sent by God; announced by an angel; conceived of the Holy Spirit in a 15 year old virgin named Mary; heralded by a heavenly host; a brilliant Star in the East to guide three Wise Men from a faraway land bearing gifts to worship the new found Messiah. This life-changing event unfolded before an unsuspecting innkeeper and unbelieving world.  

Perhaps after so many years of hearing the Christmas story, we become accustomed to the wonder and glory that streams from these amazing events.  We sing familiar carols, recite the Christmas story in Scripture, and watch Nativity plays; but today I'm reminded anew of God's magnificent love for us, and the wonder of it all overwhelms me.  God spun His love for us into the most beloved story ever written.
